VR2 Demos
These steps are also on the wall next to the computer.
The following steps work as of June 13, 2012.
To log in to the computer, root is the user, the password is the last five digits of the inventory tag on the computer.
Both Demos are in folders at the bottom of the screen, near the task bar. One is labeled Cool, one is Labeled VMW-Unity. Within each folder is a .exe file that will launch the program.
Launching the Unity file will bring up a dialogue box that allows you to choose the quality and dimensions of the demo.
- There is also a check box to force the demo to be windowed (if it is not windowed, it is full screen by default).
- The only time that you want it to be windowed is if you are showing it on something like the projector in front of the treadmill.
To make sure 3D stereoscopic is working, right click on the desktop of the 3D monitor. Check the "enable 3D" box. The 3D option is Asus 120 Hz, choose this from the drop down box.
Test 3D to ensure it's working by clicking on the "Test 3D" button, and then launch the test application (ugly Asus logo hops around on the screen).
If not already on, turn on the pyramid—this usually sits in the occlusion box First Hand built (black fabric that encloses the monitor).
- There is a button that lights up on the pyramid, the colors are Orange, Dark Green, Bright Green. Orange means that something is wrong. Dark Green means 3D is turned off. Bright Green means that stereoscopic 3D is turned on.
- Generally, during the test, stereoscopic is turned on automatically.
- Quit the demo (hit esc).
Launch the Unity VMW .exe. Make sure that "windowed" is not selected. Pick a resolution (beautiful or fantastic is probably a good idea).
Press the button on the pyramid to turn on stereoscopic 3D (if it isn't already on).
These steps should work to get the VR up and running.
Notes: be sure 3D shutter glasses are charged (usb cable plugs into them)—especially for long demos. We have two pair, so they should be able to be charged independently of one another.
