CPRM Meeting (PainLab/OCAD) - via Skype
In attendance: Tyler Fox Terry Lavender Mike Lovas Maryam Mobini Mark Nazemi Harjad — apologies I don't know Harjad's last name, and I couldn't find him on either the CPRM list of HQP's nor the master list of GRAND HQP's.
First, a note about next month's meeting. Mike will be traveling on the 5th, so we are pushing the Skype meeting to Thursday, July 12th. Please update your calendars. At this meeting we'll try to work out the outline to our first collaborative paper, focusing on visualizations and mindfulness.
Upcoming Deadlines July 5th: Everyone should send references for the visualization & mindfulness paper (see below for description).
Meeting Notes 1. Quick reminder—reimbursements for Montreal should all be submitted to GRAND by now, due no later than the end of June.
2. This summer CPRM will focus on joint publications between the SFU and OCAD teams. After discussion, we agreed on two papers that seem like we can write (obviously the descriptions will shift as we conduct research). The focus on these papers should be journal submission, not conferences—though, obviously, these are not mutually exclusive:
A. The first paper will consider the validity of visualizations for mindfulness meditation, considering drawbacks like distraction, best use of imagery, etc. We will then try to come up with recommendations for designing visualizations/environments for meditation.
B. The second paper will focus on sound and biofeedback as tools to assist users in mindfulness meditation
3. We will focus on the first paper (visualizations in meditation), with the goal of having a first draft completed by the end of the summer. To that end, everyone should submit potential references for this paper to the group by the 5th of July, this will give all of us enough time look at each of us has found. During the meeting on the 12th we will try to get together a rough outline and assign sections and timelines.
4. Terry will be creating a shared space on the CPRM website, he'll let us know when it is ready.
5. We have a shared Zotero folder, Terry has asked the moderators to let him in, then he can add the rest of us.
